WHAT IS NYI CONVENTION?

Every June during the Kansas District Assembly, the KNYI holds our convention. This is your opportunity to have a voice in the leadership of your District Council and also serves as a great time of fellowship and worship together.

WHERE: We meet @ AreaFiveOne (Wichita First Church teen building located at the North end of the parking lot).

Convention Reports
It's time to wrap up & celebrate the `16 -`17 church year.  We need your help with a few reports before we meet for the upcoming NYI Convention.  Please find attached your Local NYI Report, the Award NYI Report, an NYI Convention info letter & as mentioned earlier the Recommendation form.  Please get these back to Eli Stewart by Monday, May 22.  Thank you!

NYI Convention Info
As you are likely aware, district assembly will be in Garden City rather than in Wichita this year.  We had originally planned to hold our NYI Convention on Saturday, July 15.  However, we discovered that a few of our youth groups, leaders & delegates will be not be back from their missions trips in time for a Saturday convention.  After discussing the possibilities w/ the district office & a few others we have rescheduled the convention for Monday, July 17, 2 pm at GC Naz.  Registration will begin at 1:30 pm.  I apologize for any confusion or difficulties this may cause.  Changing the location & date mid-year is never a preference.  Thanks for understanding.  Remember, only students & adults who are members of their local church can serve as delegates to the convention.  There is also a limited number of delegates that can be sent from any one church.  Please see the info below & attached about delegates to the convention.

Convention Nominations
Part of our Spring NYI Council meeting will be spent nominating people whose names will appear on the ballots at NYI Convention.  If you would like to recommend someone for the council to consider, please submit the attached recommendation form to Eli Stewart BY MONDAY MAY 22.

Pastors, youth leaders & students,
We are looking forward to getting together again for our upcoming Kansas Nazarene Youth
International Convention! The 2016-2017 church year has been a great year & it' time for us
to celebrate, wrap up the year & look forward to next year. District Assemblies and the
conventions are moving to Garden City this year! Our KNYI Convention will be held Monday,
July 17, 2017 beginning at 2 pm in the GC Naz student area.

Registration will begin at 1:30
pm. The convention should conclude by 4:30 pm. We need your help with a few items.
Churches with an active local NYI are requested to elect & send delegates to the convention in
addition to sending a few reports to the district NYI council prior to this year's convention.
Youth Pastors, local NYI Presidents or Sr Pastors, from each local church, we need your help in
completing the attached reports. Please keep in mind, all delegates and alternates to the
District NYI Convention must be members of the local Church of the Nazarene. The number of
delegates elected & sent to the convention should be in proportion to the number of NYI
members reported on the pastor's report for the church year that just ended. We've included
a table from the NYI Global Charter that should be helpful:

Once again, we'd like to take an opportunity to recognize the ministry efforts of the local NYI
programs across the district. You'll find attached, a copy of the Kansas Award NYI report.
Please complete & return this report. Qualifying churches will be recognized individually for
local, district & global efforts. Our goal is not to compare or compete, but rather to recognize
& applaud all the work done by local NYI's, regardless of the size of the group.

Please complete & return the Local Report, the Kansas Award NYI report & the council
recommendation form to Eli Stewart, our KNYI Secretary (email:elistewart@jcnaz.org or FAX
(785) 763-5240) by noon on Monday, May 22, 2017. Copies of these reports will also be
available on our district NYI site, knyi.org
